Laasya Hobby Club
Establishment
It was inaugurated on 3rd may, 2006. The inauguration took place in a unique manner through a program called “Karnataka Shastriya Sangeeta Rasa Yatre”. It was a lecture demonstration introducing the nuances of Carnatic music. The first convenor of laasya club was Dr B V Shashirekha. Now at present the convenor of Laasya Hobby Club is Dr. Sheeladevi S Malimath.
About the Club
Hobby activities and its role in bringing up the youthful students, the Laasya Hobby Club has been formed with a view to promote the cultural, sporting and social activities of the students. It helps them::
- In forming a personality with balance and integrity.
- To develop their talents, improve capabilities and assist them in acquiring useful knowledge and experience.
Vision Statement
To help students who have an idea, product and burning desire to give HR, management and convincing skills, market exposure and inventors for their startup. This will help students to understand the business world by actually working in a startup.
Mission Statement
To help the aspiring entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses by creating a pathway of various opportunities like interactive sessions with professionals, business competitions to increase the awareness. This will help faster entrepreneurial thinking, promote business knowledge and instill confidence in every student.
Objectives
- Inculcate the passion and spirit among students to pursue entrepreneurship.
- To spread the knowledge about entrepreneurship through guest lectures etc.
- Motivate students to develop their own start-ups.
- Identifying the brightest ideas and giving them one platform and convert them.
Mode
Lassya Hobby Club is a cultural and hobby club that has a team of enthusiastic service oriented students and teachers. They bridge the gap between the visually challenged and the scribes. To serve the purpose the contact details of the members of Lassya are registered with some of the NGO’s working for the cause such as SAMARTHANAM TRUST located at J P Nagar, Bangalore and NAB (National Association for the Blind) located at Jeevana Bhima Nagar. These members are contacted by the NGOs when help is required.
Courses Offered
- Music – Carnatic music, Sugama Sangeetha
- Dance – Salsa, Bollywood and Western Bharatanatyam
- Fitness – Yoga, Aerobics
- Gardening – Bonsai, Kitchen Gardening
- Miscellaneous – Painting, Vegetable carving & Thai Art, Spoken French and Origami.
Endeavors Achieved
- Funds were raised for National Blind Association.
- Kum. Seema donated 5 pure teakwood cots to NAB.
- Kum. Roopa is donating Rs 200 per month through her earnings to the Blind Schools.
- 5 students have been scribes for the exam held in April-May 2009.
