SWO Activities for the Academic Year 2020-21 VIEW MORE

A one week Induction program from 1st July 2019 to 6th July 2019 was organised for all the 1st year degree students in BSN Narayan Memorial Auditorium. Chief Guests Dr. T.N. Raju, Former Principal and Professor, BES College of Education and Dr. B.S. Ragini Narayan, Donor Trustee, Chairperson, BMS Educational Trust and BMS College for Women and Dr. Nanda N, Principal, BMS College for Women inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp in the presence of other dignitaries. Throughout the week various speakers addressed the students and oriented the students with different opportunities and facilities available in the college as well various motivational talks by eminent scholars were also held.

 

Student class representative election for all the classes was held on 20th July 2019 followed by office bearer election on 23rd July 2019.


On 30th July 2019, an awareness program on the working of Sanitary Napkin vending machine and burning machine was held. The Machine vendors explained the students about safe, hygienic, scientific & quick method of disposal of sanitary napkins. They also explained how the use of such machines helps reduce spread of infection due to unhygienic disposal of sanitary napkins, reduce environmental pollution due to non biodegradable sanitary napkins and reduce clogging of public drainage system due to spongy nature of napkins.

 

On 7th August 2019, Student Association Inauguration was held in the college premises. The event was presided by Dr. B.S. Ragini Narayan, Honourable Chairperson, BMS College for Women and Donor Trustee, Member Secretary and Chairperson of BMS Educational Trust. Chief Guests for the event were Dr. V Sivaram, Registrar (Academics), Bengaluru Central University, Pandit Pravin Godkhindi, the renowned Classical Hindustani Flutist and Dr. Shamitha Malnad, well known Playback Singer. Dr. N. Nanda, Principal, BMSCW, Sri Aviram Sharma, trustee BMSET, Sri.Murali Krishna K Mysore, Director Admin of BMS Educational Trust(BMSET), Sri.Sanjeeva, Director Finance-2 (BMSET), Sri.Pankaj Choudhary, Principal College of Commerce & Management, Hemanth Kumar, Chairman, BMS Hospital, Smt. Padma.B, Principal PU BMSCW graced the occasion.

The dignitaries inaugurated the Students Association by Watering of the plants and “Go Green Campus” banner was unfurled by the Chairperson. All the Chief Guests honoured the elected student leaders of each stream by giving away the badges.

Chief Guest Dr. V.Sivaram addressed the gathering and expressed his happiness towards the concept of “Green Campus”, a concept started by BMSCW to keep their campus green and plastic free. He spoke about the importance of Urban Horticulture, Terrace Gardening, and kitchen Gardening. He stressed on the ecosystem management and encouraged the students to conserve biodiversity. He motivated the students to have ethical and human values in order to come up in their lives.

Chief Guest Dr. Shamitha Malnad urged the students to respect their parents and explained them the importance of education without discontinuing it in between. And told the students that if one reaches the peak of success he must always remember to be grounded towards his country, people and livelihood. In the end she mesmerized the students by singing her famous songs.

Chief Guest Pandit Pravin Godkhindi advised the students to pursue their dreams with dedication and the set a goal in life. He shared his experience in the music field. He requested the students to stay connected and support the classical Hindustani music and asked them to attend live concerts.

 

On 15th August 2019, college celebrated 73rd Independence Day in the campus Dr. B.S. Ragini Narayan, Donor Trustee and Chairperson, BMSCW hoisted the tricolour flag and recited the National Anthem along with Dr. N.Nanda, Principal, BMS Degree College, Smt.Padma, Principal, BMS PU College in front of a huge gathering of staff and students of the institution. The dignitaries showed their reverence to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi by offering flowers. The Oath Taking Ceremony of NCC cadets and NSS Volunteers was followed by the presentation on the report on the importance of Independence Day. Few of the cultural programs were also presented by NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, at the end all the students and staffs were given the sweets.

 

On 20th and 21st August 2019 two days Talents Day program was organised for all the students. Various events individual events like singing, Dancing, Best Out of Waste, Drawing/Painting, Tattoo making, Clay Modelling, Mehendi, Hairstyle, RJ Hunt, Flower Arrangement and Greeting Card making, Duet events like Rangoli, Logo Designing, College, Cooking without Fire and Jewellery Making, Group Events like Group Song, Group Dance, Mad Ads and Fashion Show were held. Students participated in large number and showcased their talents in various events. All the prize winners will be receiving their prizes and certificates on the prize distribution day.

 

A one week Flood Donation Campaigning was held in the campus from 12th August to 17th August 2019. The college in connection with helping the flood victims of North Karnataka collected the flood relief materials such as groceries, clothing, medicines and food items from students and staffs. Students segregated and packed the various items donated and were sent to the need people through Karnataka Civil Defence Commanding officer Dr.Chetan.

 

On 4th September 2019, College celebrated Ganesha Chaturthi. A huge Eco-friendly Ganesha idol was worshipped with a complementing beautiful Gowri idol. All the Students, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff participated in the pooja and prasada was distributed. Students enthusiastically danced to the Tamate beats and in the evening Ganesha idol was immersed in the water. All the people who participated in the Festival enjoyed thoroughly. Students also displayed their Ganesha idols which were made by them.

 

On 21st September 2019, Graduation Day was organised for the 2018-19 batch students. Chief Guest Prof V Girish Chandra, Acting Vice Chancellor, Karnataka Samskrit University, Donor trustee and Chairperson BMSCW Dr. B.S. Ragini Narayan, Trusee Sri Aviram Sharma, Principal Dr. N.Nanda and other trust members along with invitees from other sister concern, Heads of all the Departments graced the occasion. The Chief Guests and special invitees distributed the Congratulations certificates to the students from BA, B.Com, B.Sc and BBA streams. The Students were congratulated and good wishes were extended by the dignitaries.


On 24th September 2019, ‘GURUVANDANA’ Teachers Day Celebration was organised. A cultural program from the teaching and non teaching staff was held. Teachers enthusiastically participated in various events like Dance, Playing of musical instruments, singing and fashion show. The teachers day was celebrated with a motto of raising the fund and contributing it to the social cause. With Guruvandana program an amount of rupees 11,400/- was raised from students and staffs and the same was contributed to the Manonandana Trust which runs special school for intellectually disabled children.

 

On 3rd October 2019, a Guest Lecture on the working of Sanitary Napkin vending machine and burning machine was held, all the class representatives and office bearers actively participated in the program. The resource person Sri Madhusudhana KV, Director Mathrusri Management Services. He spoke on how the Sanitary Napkin vending machine and burning machine works and practically showed the demo of the machines. He insisted on the safe and more eco friendly way of disposing the used sanitary napkins and created awareness about maintaining health and hygiene in the campus.

 

On 4th October 2019, SWO Ayudha Pooja was celebrated in SWO room. Principal and all the SWO members along with office bearers participated in pooja and sweets were distributed after the pooja.

 

On 11th January 2020, 24 students from our college participated in INSIGHTSTAR A Workshop on how to prepare for a competitive examination organised by Deccan Herald group.


On 26th January 2020, 71th Republic Day was celebrated in the college premises. Sri Aviramsharma, Trustee B.M.S Trust, hoisted the tricolour flag followed by the recitation of the National anthem by all staff and students of the college. Cultural secretary Kum. Chandana from 2nd B.Com delivered the speech on importance of Republic Day. NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers sung patriotic songs and March Past with band was given by NCC cadets.

Dr. Nanda. N, Principal, BMS college for Women, Smt. B. Padma, Principal, BMS PU College for women, Sir.Sanjeeva B, Director Finance, Sri Anirbhan Sharma Finance officer graced the occasion.

 

On 06th February 2020, 12 students from our college participated in one day training on 'First Responder’ under the State Institute of Health and Family welfare, Organised by the Government of Karnataka, in the training program they had an experience to conduct Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), basic first aid which was taught by experienced Doctors.


On 3rd March 2020, a prayer meeting was arranged in BSN Auditorium on occasion of birth anniversary of Late. Sri B S Narayan. The BMS group of institutions is dated back to the year 1946, Late Sri B M Srinivasaiah, Philanthropist and visionary, realized the importance of education in the country and started first private engineering college in Bengaluru, thus B.M.S. College of Engineering emerged. He had foreseen the urgent need for high quality technical education in India, even before independence. The ideals for which Sri. B. M. Sreenivasaiah stood, continued to inspire the inheritors of his legacy. In recognition of his work The Maharaja of Mysore honoured him with the title of Dharamaprakasha Raja Karya Prasaktha in 1946. After the demise of & Sri. B. M. Sreenivasaiah & his dynamic and enterprising son Sri. B. S. Narayan, took over the reigns of the BMS group of institutions. All the institutions which came under the umbrella of BMS Groups grew from strength-to-strength under his able guidance. He was also instrumental in initiating international collaborative programmers such as training foreign students under International Co-operation Division (ICD) and cross cultural programs with Melton Foundation. Every year 3rd March is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Sri B.S. Narayan, in this connection a prayer meeting is arranged.

 

On 17th April 2020, an awareness program on COVID -19 with the titled “SPREAD THE WORD, ALL AROUND THE WORLD” was initiated by office bearers of student’s welfare association. With the help of a small video clip and a posture the importance of staying home was shown and the same was circulated to all the students of our college with the help of social media channels like whatsapp, Instagram and facebook.

 

On 28th May 2020, an online workshop was conducted on the topic “STRESS DURING A PANDEMIC ISOLATION: TIPS TO PREPARE FOR EXAM” by Ms Sneha Psychologist, BMS Hospital, Bengaluru. Ms. Sneha spoke on types and forms of stress as well she gave tips on overcoming the stress and how to prepare for the examination during this lockdown period.


On 29th May 2020, an online workshop was conducted on the topic “COVID-19 and Health” by Dr.Megha D V, Residential Doctor BMS Hospital and consultant Doctor BMS College for women. in her talk she highlighted the importance of maintaining Health and hyenine, way to clean the vegetables, how to use and discard the mask etc. the session was very informative and Dr.Megha D V and Principal Dr.Nanada N interacted with the students and clarified all the doubts.
